About this place
A meal at MAKIBI PLACE in Tennoji-ku might begin with a wood-fired appetiser, move on to grilled meat and finish with paella. The menu includes wood-fired carpaccio of fresh fish and an appetiser of smoked salmon with ricotta and avocado, followed by wood-fired beef short ribs, duck breast or Chami pork. One diner who ordered wood-fired pork shoulder and seafood paella for lunch said the pork was delicious with salt, letting the flavour of the meat and the aroma of the wood come through. The paella, they noted, had rice infused with seafood juices and a crisp, toasted layer at the bottom—a tempting choice for anyone who enjoys that fragrant finish.
Paella comes with more than seafood: options include seasonal vegetables, squid ink, red prawns and a daily special, making it easy to choose by ingredient or flavour. At lunchtime, seafood paella is served with soup and salad, while a one-plate meal pairs the daily main with bread or rice. For something different, there are rice bowls topped with seared beef short ribs or seared salmon, both served with salad and soup. A diner who tried both bowls commented that the salmon had no fishy smell and that the firm-cooked rice suited their taste.
There is also seating on the terrace. To round off a meal, consider a wood-roasted apple served with vanilla ice cream, or a mini parfait with Kyoho grapes, Shine Muscat grapes and Earl Grey-scented cream.
